Dear music lovers,
The 'autumn 2014' music season starts along with the school season, so here are some updates.
Emmanuel Mann joins Valkania as a bass-player, replacing Nikolay Angarev. Nikolay has been playing with us since 2012 and he has contributed enormously to the high quality of music that the band has produced, especially during the recording of the album Roots - one of the three best World Music albums, according to Indie Acoustic.
Nikolay is an accomplished bass and piano player, with a professional attitude and a great presence on stage. He felt that he wanted to pursue his own projects and we wish him success in his work.
Emmanuel lived most of his life in USA, and he arrived in UK less two years ago. He is a professional bass-player, specialising in Balkan World Fusion music, and we are glad to have him among us. Emmanuel's recordings can be heard on Myspace,
You can come and check him out live on our two gigs in September:
- Earl Haig Hall, Crouch End, Thursday, 4 September, 20.30
- Luna Lounge, Leytonstone, Saturday, 13 September 2014
In the Music News sections, I would like to draw your attention to the new composition released by our friend Thierry Deneux, called Amaryllis. So good - full of French and Mediterranean nostalgia, gentleness, culture, passion and emotion. And a ring of truthfulness, which is probably Thierry's best quality, besides his voice. You can hear the song and comment on his website, ThierryDeneux.com.
Finally, guessing that most of you like Balkan music to some extend, there is a great band called Balkanoes performing at Jamboree on the 19th September 2014.
And - the Monday Greek Rebetiko sessions at SOAS re-start on the 22nd September, as a weekly event, with a relaxed atmosphere and some excellent musicianship.
