Breakthrough Easy

Breakthrough is a composition for the whole class for KS2 (Y3-Y6, 8-12 years old) of UK primary school, music education. It consists of one song in three different speeds and four instrument parts, with coloured notes and note names engraved in the note heads. Breakthrough Easy is the slowest and easiest variation of the composition, aimed at Year 3 and 4 (8-10 years old).

There are eight  bars of introduction, before Theme 1 starts. The song begins with a speed of 80bpm and finishes at 90bpm. There are 7 themes, and the song gets gradually faster. The parts of the melodic instruments & chords are with coloured notes and note names engraved in the note heads.

The composition parts are named groups, and are provided as pdf:

  • Group 1: percussion
  • Group 2: melodic instrument, beginner (notes A-B)
  • Group 3: melodic instrument, intermediate (notes F#-G-A-B)
  • Group 4: easy piano and guitar chords

Besides those four pdf's, a separate complete score is provided for the teacher.

There are five mp3 files available:

  • Complete: the full composition, recorded with drums and bass and and all groups (performed on a synth)
  • Backing: drums, bass and chords played on warm pad
  • Group 1: backing track and Group 1 melody line only
  • Group 2: backing track and Group 2 melody line only
  • Group 3: backing track and Group 3 melody line only
