The Gladiator Battle was the originally conceived name for this track. It used to remind me of the film Gladiator, for some reason.
Lucy Tailor is a lady whom I somehow met, years ago. She lived in Crete for a few months (or years) and there, on a sound-recorder, she recorded many musical ideas. Just voice, just melody - her soft voice whispering through the sound of the wind and searching, discovering and capturing strange and mystical worlds of the past of the island, combined with her own past, of course.
When she came back to England, she needed a composer to make sense of this music. And someone connected us and we worked together for a few weeks. Eventually, we couldn't agree of the final form that the music would take.
After that I lost track of her. I was sorry for the waisted time and I liked her 'inspired-by-Crete' melodies, so eventually, a few years later, I recorded this instrumental out of one of her melodies. By that time she changed has her phone, so I could never play it to her (she probably wouldn't like it, anyway:-).
So here it is, a composition partly composed by me, and partly by Lucy Taylor, as a sound-memory-card of this friendship. Ah, yes - and a song I wrote about her, called Tugjinka (a Strangeress).
