Bursting is the third album of The Journey: A World of Music Quatrology, a 4-CD set released in 2006 by Viktor Mastoridis. Its genre can be described as Balkan World / Rock Fusion Music. It contains 13 tracks: 7 songs and 6 instrumentals. The instrumentals are electric guitar based with overdrive/distortion.The main feature of the album is the fusion of Balkan Folk and Western Rock music; including the transformation of odd-time signatures into Rock Grooves.
So, what's so new and interesting about playing Rock with odd-time signatures? Musicians have made numerous songs with uneven time-signatures. Why this album deserves to see the light of the day? Actually, the 'common' time-signature songs probably give weight to the album: People, Slushni me, Silence, even Prayer. These are songs with deeper meaning and thought. From the odd-time, the electric guitar instrumentals Stone Bridge (7/8) and the Pipes (9/8), together with the song All The time (11/8) make the Balkan Rock Fusion beat by clashing the smoothness of a rock composition with a bumpiness of their time-signatures. The result is more rock than Balkan album possessing a few interesting tunes.
